EPDM Single Ply Roof Restoration
The owner of this 50,000 square foot retail space needed to address the issues of an aging EPDM single ply roof system and a disgruntled tenant.
The black roofing membrane had failing seams causing water leaks. The dark roof had surface temperatures above 160º in the hot Georgia summers. Roof tear off and replacement was not a viable economic option due to cost as well as the fact that the business interruption of a roof tear off would cause further aggravation to the already unhappy tenants. By taking no action, the landlord risked losing substantial rental revenue from a tenant who would move to another building.
An ALDOCOAT Reflective Roof Coating System. Two Aldo products were applied to the roof to address the issues of water leaks and extreme heat. After cleaning the surface, two coats of ALDOPRIME 624 were applied to address the seams, and two coats of ALDOCOAT 374 Acrylic were applied to the entire surface as final steps in the process.
A leak free roof and a satisfied tenant were realized without business disruption. The ALDOCOAT solution will extend the life of the existing EPDM roof membrane by covering it with a renewable and sustainable high performing roof coating system.
Additionally, the white reflective roof surface lowered the roof temperature to below 100º, saving the owner and tenants significant dollars during peak demand of the rooftop HVAC units.
