Georgia School Metal Roof Restoration
Issue:
This school in central Georgia was in need of major roof work. In addition to the 35,000 square feet of flat roofs that needed complete roof membrane replacement, the school had 75,000 square feet of standing seam metal roofs that were leaking. A complete tear off and replacement of the metal roof was cost prohibitive.
Solution:
An ALDOCOAT acrylic roof coating system was prescribed as the solution, utilizing three ALDOCOAT standard products and a custom color solution for the metal roof.
ALDOPRIME 710 was spray applied at a rate of one gallon per 100 square feet. This provided a proper anchor to maximize adhesion of the acrylic base and top coats. All areas of suspected water penetration were then treated with ALDOSEAL 750 Sealant. Once this was completed, a coat of ALDOCOAT 374 Gray base coat was spray applied and allowed to cure for 24 hours. Finally, the ALDOCOAT 374 Black Fox custom color was applied.
Results:
The ALDOCOAT acrylic system addressed the issues of problem roof leaks, restored the roof to the original color, and extended the service life of the metal roof system for another 10 years. This was accomplished for about 30% of the cost of a roof tear off and new installation. Additionally, there was no roof tear off waste added to the local landfill. The project was completed within the school system’s limited budget, and all the school officials were very satisfied with the solutions realized.
